Originally built in 1789, Borderline Farm sits in open farm country amid barns and sweeping hay fields. The house was given a total makeover which was completed in 2010, with elegance, comfort and ease in mind. The style throughout is very plush with over-sized down sofas, multiple seating areas, open plan, enormous Rumford fireplaces, well-curated antiques, Venetian plaster walls, and a Shaker dining room for 10 – with fireplace! The gourmet country kitchen has gleaming copper covered island and a full-size dining table with Windsor chairs and Chippendale sofa seating. Ten windows on three exposures open to the terraces and sunset. The appliances are all top-of-the-line: 8-burner Viking range, Sub-Zero fridge, Miele D/W and W/D. Multiple sinks, work stations and espresso bar. You also have not one but two offices on the ground floor! There is a formal entry off the front sitting porch as well as a separate entry with mudroom for efficiency and ease for active Berkshire vacationers. Separate and dramatic staircases lead to family bedrooms in one wing and a guest suite in the other. The master suite opens into a spa-like bath sequence, with cast-iron Kohler jacuzzi tub, tiled steam shower, double sinks, bidet, plus easy chair and Tibetan wool carpets. Matching walk-in closets open to expansive bedroom, with two seating groups, California king sleigh bed and windows on three sides exposes the sweeping views and western sunsets. Linens, bedding and mattresses throughout the house are new and hotel-quality. Also upstairs in the family wing, a cozy queen-bed guestroom, second full bath, and central media den with flatscreen HDTV/DVD. The natural swimming pool is a European design with a spring-fed shallow pool flowing in by waterfall into the in-ground Gunite pool with max depth of 9 feet. 9′. The entire system is maintained without chemicals thanks to the ample daily flow from the crytal-clear Alford aquifer. The pools are framed by dramatic natural sandstone and marble formations threaded with xeriscape rock garden and fountain grasses. Borderline Farm boasts the first “European” or ‘green’ swimming pool in Berkshire County. Multiple outdoor spaces are great for dining, conversation in the tranquil setting and relaxing.
