Built in 1903, this updated and yet stunning example of Victorian craftsmanship is a perfect place for a family and friends looking to find an easy getaway in the Berkshires. With several outdoor features such as a covered front porch with outdoor seating, screened-in supper porch, and back deck with views and access to the fenced-in yard, this home offers wonderful possibilities. The neighborhood is a throw back to an easier time where children actually climb trees and ride their bikes in the street. An easy 5 minute walk will find you in the center of downtown Great Barrington for a meal, shopping, shows, cinema, galleries and much more. This home is also an easy walk (or 1 minute drive) to Lake Mansfield Park for swimming (sandy beach with lifeguard on duty!) picnicking, or having fun on the climber/swing sets. The house is well appointed on the ground floor level with a family room, parlor, large eat-in kitchen (at the counter seats 4), separate dining room area with seating for 8, ½ bath, and large pantry/laundry room. The living room and parlor comfortably seats 11 guests. There are inviting touched throughout the house such as: lovely artwork, books, games, puzzles and toys to entertain both children and adults! The Kitchen is well equipped with high-end stainless appliances and good cook wear.
The second floor has 3 bedrooms: the master suite with queen bed plus a twin sleigh day bed and full bathroom with jetted tub/shower combination, the second large bedroom has a queen bed and a full bed and shares a full bathroom – shower only – with the third smaller bedroom, with a queen bed. Up on the 3rd floor is another cozy bedroom with a full bed and the 5th bedroom is also a delightful playroom – with twin bed and full futon. The two top floors have central AC.
Outside you have a delightful front sitting porch and lovely cottage gardens with pathways leading to the front walk and side parking area. The back sun deck is private and there is also a side screened dining porch and a fully fenced yard.
Available: Summer 2012 for $2300/week or $8500/month. Full summer season offered for $24,000. The rate is all-inclusive. All holiday periods are booked at peak rates. Winter rates are $4500/month and full ski season special offered for $16,000 for Dec – March. Some weekends are available off-season. Please inquire for off-season rates or long-term availability.
